PGA REACH Philadelphia Announces 2024 PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup Team

The team, led by Saucon Valley C.C.'s Mike Wood, PGA, will compete in Kentucky during PGA Championship Week

Bethlehem, Pa. (April 18, 2024) — The Philadelphia PGA Section will be sending a team to compete in the 2024 PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup. The annual event is named after the Secretary of Veteran Affairs in recognition of the Memorandum of Understanding between PGA REACH and the Department of Veteran Affairs. Every year the event coincides with the PGA Championship and will take place this year on May 13, 2024 at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Kentucky.

The team
, consisting of PGA of America Golf Professional Mike Wood, from Saucon Valley C.C., and four U.S. Military Veterans  Bill Lippincott, Cal Bostick, Leo Kollar, and Shaun Osting  earned their berth into the tournament by winning PGA REACH Philadelphia’s inaugural PGA HOPE Cup at Riverton C.C. last August. Bill Lippincott is a Navy Veteran and loves golfing because it allows him to be active. Cal Bostick is a retired Marine and a squad leader at the Saucon Valley HOPE Chapter. He loves to golf, especially at Shawnee Country Club, where he is the President. Shaun Osting is also a retired Marine and started to golf in high school. PGA HOPE has helped him hone his skills and build confidence on the golf course. The final member of the group is Leo Kollar, a former Marine, who loves being able to make new friends and memories through HOPE. The four veterans are true ambassadors of PGA HOPE Philadelphia, both in their spirit and passion for the game of golf.

Mike Wood, PGA, has been very involved in the lives of veterans and won the Section’s Patriot Award in 2023. He is the Lead Professional of the Saucon Valley HOPE Program.

With Wood’s leadership, and the veterans’ diligent preparation, the team is hoping to bring back a victory. PGA REACH Philadelphia wishes the five of them the best of luck and safe travels! For more information on the Secretary’s Cup, click here.
