This week for our National Day of HOPE Campaign, we are sharing the story of esteemed PGA Professional, John Pillar, former Philadelphia PGA Section president and current PGA director of golf at the Country Club at Woodloch Springs
For over a decade, John has supported local servicemen and women, while also providing scholarship opportunities through Folds of Honor, an organization that provides scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military.
Through the Country Club at Woodloch Springs and the local community, John Pillar has raised close to $1 million in support of the spouses and children of fallen soldiers. In 2023, the PGA HOPE Philadelphia Pocono Chapter was initiated at Woodloch with 16 participants. Collectively, the PGA HOPE Pocono participants served 32 tours from Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Vietnam, and there were seven Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars, and one Silver Star.
John went on to state, “Never would I have imagined the impact this PGA HOPE program would have not only on our program participants, but to my trainers and myself. This program has been the most important expereince of my PGA career!”
As we continue honoring National Day of HOPE, we invite you to join us in commemorating John’s story and his efforts to improve the lives of Veterans and their families on and off the golf course.
